"Assasin's Creed" Goes Multiplatform

Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed" game, one of the most awarded games at E3 2006, will not be a PlayStation 3 exclusive. While I never for a minute believed the French game publisher would put all of its eggs in one basket, especially a basket that will be far behind Microsoft's Xbox 360, there were some who believed that Sony would fork over serious cash to get an exclusive. Ubisoft has traditionally released all of its big franchises--and make no mistake about it, "Assassin's" is a new franchise--across all platforms, although there have been exclusive windows in the past. "Assassin's" will ship for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in early 2007. The game is in development at Ubisoft's famed Montreal Studio.
The game is set in 1191 AD, when the Third Crusade was tearing the Holy Land apart. Shrouded in secrecy and feared for their ruthlessness, the Assassins intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. Players, assuming the role of the main character Altair, will have the power to throw their immediate environment into chaos and to shape events during this pivotal moment in history.
What's amazing about this game isn't just the breathtaking visuals, a lot of new next generation games have that, but the way that the player interacts with the non-playable characters in the game. Everything in this world behaves like the real world, so crowds react to the player's actions. To fully appreciate the way this changes the gameplaying experience, you have to play this game, or at least watch an E3 demo. The game will be on display at Microsoft's European X06 event later this month. I'd also expect Sony to showcase it at this month's Tokyo Game Show, but that hasn't been confirmed. It certainly was the most impressive PS3 game at E3 this year.

Asassin's Creed looks outstanding....
Good also that it is multi-platform.
